What is the difference between red light, near-infrared (NIR), and deep NIR?

Same family, different depths - each with a distinct role.

Red light (630–660nm) penetrates roughly 1–2 mm into the skin, reaching the upper dermis. This is where fibroblasts live, which is why this wavelength is so strongly linked to collagen stimulation, anti-aging, and smoother skin texture.

Near-infrared (800–850nm) penetrates significantly deeper, reaching up to 5–10 mm into the lower dermis and subcutaneous layers. This depth allows it to effectively boost circulation, reduce inflammation, and accelerate deeper tissue repair.

Longer NIR wavelengths (~900–1070nm) interact more with deeper tissue and water content, supporting recovery processes in muscles and joints rather than primarily skin-focused results.

Do results vary by skin type or condition?

Yes, Halio's LED devices are designed for all skin types and most people see results with consistent use.

For red light therapy devices (HRT, PureGlow Mask, RevitaWave, Lift & Light Duo): suitable for all skin types including sensitive. As with any new skincare tool, we recommend doing a patch test on a small area first - apply for 2–3 minutes, wait 24 hours, and check for any reaction before using on your full face.
If you have an active skin condition (eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, open wounds, or active breakouts in the treatment area), or are on photosensitising medication, please consult your dermatologist before use.

Why am I not seeing results yet?

Skin transformations run on their own schedule - but a few things speed them up.

Check the basics: are you using it 3–5x per week? Clean skin, no makeup? Gel applied where required? The right session length? Most users hit their first visible milestone around week 4. Safety & Contraindications

Are Halio devices safe?

Absolutely - safe is non-negotiable for us.

All Halio devices are non-invasive, and designed for at-home use. Our technology is built on clinically proven science. That said, always read your device's user manual, follow the recommended usage guidelines, and review the contraindications specific to your device. If you have any existing medical conditions, check with your doctor before starting.

Who should NOT use Halio devices?

Halio is designed for most adults - but not everyone. Please do not use if you are:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Undergoing cancer treatment or have active cancer
  • Taking medications that increase photosensitivity
  • Diagnosed with epilepsy or prone to seizures
  • Using a pacemaker or have implanted electronic medical devices
  • Under 18 years of age
  • Experiencing active skin infections or open wounds in the treatment area

For the InfinityGlow IPL: also not suitable for very dark skin tones or white, grey, blonde, or red hair.

When in doubt, always consult your healthcare provider.

Can I use a Halio device if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

We'd recommend sitting this one out.

Our devices haven't been specifically tested on pregnant or breastfeeding women, and we don't know enough to say it's risk-free. Please check with your doctor before using any Halio device if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Your safety - and your baby's - comes first, always.

Can I use the device if I have sensitive skin?

Most Halio LED devices play very nicely with sensitive skin - but it's always smart to start slow.

Do a 24-hour patch test before your first full session to confirm your skin is on board. Begin at lower intensity settings and shorter sessions, then build up. If you notice persistent redness, irritation, or discomfort, stop and consult a dermatologist.

Can I use a Halio device after Botox, fillers, or other injectables?

Red light therapy and injectables actually get along well - RLT can even support post-treatment healing.

That said, wait until any bruising or swelling has fully resolved before using your device again. If you're using the RevitaWave (RF + EMS), give filler areas at least 2 weeks of space before treating directly over them. Your aesthetician or doctor can give you a more specific timeline.

Can I use the device with retinol or active skincare ingredients?

Timing is everything here.

For LED devices: always apply skincare after your treatment, not before. If you use retinol, keep it for a different time of day - don't combine it with your Halio session. For the RevitaWave: only use a conductive gel or water-based product during treatment. If you're on prescription-strength retinoids like Tretinoin, check with your dermatologist before adding light therapy to your routine.

Can I use the device if I have rosacea, eczema, or psoriasis?

Check with your dermatologist first - they'll know your skin best.

Red light therapy has been linked to reduced inflammation and redness in some cases, but our devices haven't been specifically tested for these conditions. Never use on actively inflamed, broken, or infected skin. When in doubt, get the green light from a professional before you start.

Is it safe to use near tattoos, moles, or scars?

For red light therapy devices (HRT, PureGlow Mask, RevitaWave, Lift & Light Duo): avoid using directly over raised or suspicious moles. Consult a dermatologist if you have concerns about specific skin markings.

For IPL hair removal (InfinityGlow): this is a hard stop - never use directly over tattoos, moles, or pigmented birthmarks. IPL targets melanin and can cause burns in these areas. Always follow the contraindications listed in your device manual.

Can children use Halio devices?

Halio devices are designed for adults only - not recommended for anyone under 18. Keep all devices safely out of reach of children.

How do I track my order?

Returns & Warranty

What warranty do Halio devices come with?

Every Halio device comes with a 1-year warranty from your original purchase date, covering defects due to faulty workmanship or materials under normal use. It doesn't cover cosmetic wear, accidents, or misuse and opening or disassembling your device voids the warranty.

Note: promotional free gifts may have separate, shorter warranty terms. If a gift arrives defective, contact us straight away.

What is your return policy?

How do I initiate a return?

What is the refund method?

Once your return is received and inspected, your refund will be processed within 5–10 business days.

Do I need to pay for return shipping?

Can I exchange for a different product?
